Rumour Mongering: Dani Alves to Replace Glen Johnson?

Liverpool's chronic fullback issues have been a concern for many seasons running now. Left back looks to have been addressed temporarily and long-term with the hopeful double signing of Javier Manquillo and Alberto Moreno, which leaves right back the next logical place due for an upgrade.
Enter Dani Alves, out of sorts and out of contract by season's end at Barcelona.According to SPORT, the thirty-one year-old Brazilian has been made aware that he is apparently not part of his club's plans moving forward as they hope to secure the services of Juan Cuadrado instead, leaving Alves to ponder his next step.
Any right back link to Liverpool makes sense in the wake of Glen Johnson's failure to impress on the right during pre-season and the 2013/14 campaign. Although he was playing through injury for many of those games, there's been a concern that Johnson just isn't up to snuff anymore and that Liverpool should either sign another player who can provide Johnson with legitimate competition or they should sell the player before he ends up departing on a free next summer.
The bits and pieces add up to the latter, as interest from Queens Park Rangers for Johnson earlier in the summer has allegedly solidifed into a £4m transfer according to internet conjecture sans legitimate sources. Brendan Rodgers is said to be looking to pay £5m for Alves, so a net £1m spent to move Johnson and his wages out could be a tidy bit of business.

Many, many grains of salt should be taken here on both the Johnson departure and Alves arrival fronts, of course, but with his age and potential wage demands it's still hard to see how Alves might be anything other than a short term solution at RB should Johnson move back to London.
