The 26-year old currently lines out for Italian side Fiorentina but after an impressive World Cup campaign, he has gathered interest from a host of clubs across the world and the Daily Star reports that the Red Devils are favourites to land him.
Marouane Fellaini is one of the players whose Manchester United future is under threat and the Gazzetta dello Sport reports that talks with Seire A side Napoli are continuing over a proposed loan deal for the midfielder. Napoli are attempting to persuade United to pay half of the Belgium international's salary, while the Premier League club reportedly want around €5m to let the Belgian move to Italy for the season.
The Sun has suggested that Thomas Vermaelen is refusing to discuss a new contract with Arsenal, who are holding out for a £10m fee from apparent suitors Manchester United and Barcelona.
The Sun have also reported this morning that Irish international Wes Hoolahan is set to perform a U-turn and sign a new two-year deal with Norwich City.
Swansea appear  ready to scrap the £19m clause in Wilfred Bony’s contract and allow the unsettled striker leave for a smaller fee as Gary Monk seems happy to offload the Ivorian, with Liverpool monitoring the situation. (The Daily Mirror)
Also in the Mirror is the news that Everton's loan deal for Chelsea winger Christian Atsu has broken down due to concerns he would not receive sufficient playing time at Goodison Park.
Another player who may be on his way to Italy is Spurs defender Younes Kaboul, who is in talks with Lazio as Tottenham prepare to make room for new arrival Mateo Musacchio, according to the Daily Express. Kaboul only has one year remaining on his deal and Spurs reportedly would take around £6m.
Tottenham are understood to be in talks with Villarreal about centre-back Musacchio, although a couple of papers today suggest that negotiations have hit a snag due to the Spanish club owing around 35pc of any transfer to the player’s former club River Plate and are digging their heels in about the fee.
