Manchester United striker Robin van Persie admits he could've signed for PSV Eindhoven earlier in this career.
Van Persie says when he left Feyenoord for Arsenal, he had the chance to join PSV.
"When I was 20, I could've gone to PSV. That was special as Guus Hiddink was there.
"It fell through in the end and I left for Arsenal," recalled RvP, who will retain the Holland captaincy under new coach Hiddink.
"It was good news. I find it a challenge and a great honour."

Betting: Chelsea the big winners from the Champions League draw

Betting: Chelsea the big winners from the Champions League draw

After being drawn with Schalke, Sporting and Maribor, Paddy Power have cut the odds on the Blues winning the tournament while Carlo Ancelotti's side remain the favourites

All eyes were on the Champions League draw taking place in Monaco on Thursday afternoon.
Europe's elite clubs waited with baited breath breath to find out which teams they would be drawn against in the group stage and the bookmakers have reacted accordingly.
Champions League Winner Odds
Odds from Paddy Power
 WasNow
Real Madrid7/27/2
Bayern Munich4/14/1
Barcelona11/2 11/2
Chelsea9/1 6/1
Manchester City12/114/1
Paris Saint-Germain14/1 14/1
Arsenal20/120/1
Atletico Madrid25/1 25/1
Chelsea were the shortest priced English side and there was no danger of them losing that tag after they were drawn against Schalke, Sporting and Maribor in what looks one of, if not the kindest group.
The Blues, who finished third in the Premier League last season, were the biggest movers within the front running pack, having their price cut by a third.
Jose Mourinho's side have been cut to 6/1 from 9/1 in the outright winner market and with a seemingly favourable group and plenty of summer reinforcements they could well be a popular pick to make another serious tilt at the title.
In some parts it was Bayern Munich who were the pre-draw favourites to win back the crown they secured in 2013 and Pep Guardiola's men were the first team to be drawn by Iker Casillas as the ceremony got underway.
Bayern were 4/1 with Paddy Power and there has beenno movement on that after the German champions were drawn alongside Manchester City, CSKA Moscow and Roma.
City have understandably remained steady in the betting at 12/1 with Paddy Power, although they did progress from a group that included Bayern last season in a campaign that included a 3-2 win at the Allianz Arena and they will be well fancied to qualify for the knockout stages once again.
Most firms had holders Real Madrid as the tournament frontrunners and Paddy Power were no exception.7/2 was the pre-draw price for a newly beefed up Madrid side to win back-to-back European titles this season.
Carlo Ancelotti's men have been kept short by the bookmakers and they remain 7/2 favourites to retain the trophy they secured with victory over city rivals Atletico in Lisbon earlier this year.
The Blancos have been drawn with Basel, Liverpool and Bulgarian side Ludogorets in Group B which has been deemed a favourable draw by the odds compilers. The Reds are still available at the same price of28/1 the same as before the draw took place.
Barecelona retain their place as third favourites at 11/2 in the betting although their odds drifted after the news that the Catalan giants will face Paris Saint-Germain, Ajax and APOEL in Group F.
Paris Saint-Germain may have dominated Ligue 1 for the last two seasons but they have yet to convert that into a serious European challenge. Punters who think that will change can back them at 14/1.
Before the draw Atletico Madrid may have caught the eye as a value bet at a double figure price despite the loss of some key players this summer. Diego Simeone's side came within minutes of securing an historic double last season and have been drawn alongside Serie A winners Juventus, Olympiakos and Malmo in their group and they remain 25/1 to win the tournament with Paddy Power.
Arsenal (20/1) squeezed past Besiktas by the smallest of margins in their play-off tie but were still a top seed in the drawing process and the Gunners will now play Borussia Dortmund, Roma and face another trip to Turkey in the shape of a clash with Galatasaray.
In an otherwise fairly even draw it certainly seems Chelsea are the big winners as far as the bookmakers are concerned.
Draw in full:
Group A: Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Olympiakos, Malmo
Group B: Real Madrid, Basel, Liverpool, Ludogorets
Group C: Benfica, Zenit, Bayer Leverkusen, Monaco
Group D: Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Galatasaray, Anderlecht
Group E: Bayern Munich, Manchester City, CSKA Moscow, Roma
Group F: Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Ajax, APOEL
Group G: Chelsea, Schalke, Sporting, Maribor
Group H: Porto, Shakhtar Donetsk, Athletic Bilbao, BATE

ARSENAL PONDER BID FOR OLYMPIAKOS DEFENDER KOSTAS MANOLAS

Arsenal are being linked with Olympiakos defender Kostas Manolas.
The Daily Express says the Gunners are preparing to step up their interest in Greek defender Manolas - previously linked with Tottenhamand Sunderland - as a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen.
Vermaelen signed for Barcelona last week after Arsenal accepted a £15m offer from the Spanish giants.
But Arsene Wenger has made no secret of his desire to bring in another centre-back following Vermaelen's exit.
Manolas has impressed at Olympiakos - including in the Champions League - since joining the club on a free transfer from AEK Athens last summer.
Manolas nearly joined Everton at the start of 2012 after AEK agreed a fee with the Toffees, only for the player to decline to opportunity to move.

The versatile Belgium centre-back has arrived in Catalunya to seal a switch to Camp Nou, after snubbing interest from Manchester United

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen is in Spain to undergo a medical and complete his €19 million move to Barcelona.

The Blaugrana agreed a deal for the Belgium international with the Gunners on Friday, with the centre-half snubbing interest from Manchester United to seal a switch to La Liga.

Arsene Wenger had previously admitted that he would rather sell the 28-year-old to a foreign club rather than a domestic rival and, after being given a straight choice between Old Trafford and Camp Nou, Vermaelen plumped for Catalunya.

United had long been on Vermaelen's tail, with talk of their interest first emerging during the World Cup.

New boss Louis van Gaal is on the look-out for ball-playing centre-backs to fit into his 3-5-2 system and had sanctioned a move for the former Arsenal captain, who has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium.

Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny have forged an impressive central defensive partnership for the Gunners over the past 18 months, limiting Vermaelen to a supporting role.

Arsenal have signed Calum Chambers from Southampton this summer and the 19-year-old could now be installed as third-choice centre-back at the Emirates if no new faces arrive before the close of the transfer window.

ARSENAL DEFENDER VERMAELEN WANTS MAN UTD MOVE

as_vermaelen

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen wants to move toManchester United.
The Belgium international is also a target for Barcelona, but favours Old Trafford as his next destination.
The Daily Mail says he has an English girlfriend, model Polly Parsons, and a young son, and would like to be reunited with his good friendRobin van Persie.
He would also have more chance of playing regularly, which is the only factor motivating a move from the Emirates Stadium.
United manager Louis van Gaal wants Vermaelen to operate on the left of three centre-halves in a new-look United team.

AGGER FUTURE DECIDED NEXT WEEK BY LIVERPOOL BOSS RODGERS

as_rodgers1
Liverpool management will make a final decision over Dan Agger's future next week.
The Telegraph says the Reds intend to definitely resolve the future of Agger next week after the Danish centre-back informed Brendan Rodgers that he thinks his Anfield future is at an end.
ArsenalBarcelona and hometown club Brondby have all been linked with the defender.
Agger came home during the pre-season tour of the United States and has indicated that he no longer wants to play for Liverpool.
Rodgers will deal with the situation over the next week and hold further talks with Agger, who has not been the subject of a bid from a rival club.

JUVENTUS WEIGH UP SHOCK BID FOR ARSENAL MIDFIELDER WILSHERE

as_wilshere

Juventus are lining up a bid for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.
The London Evening Standard says the Serie A club have sounded out English-based agents to explore through informal channels whether the Gunners would be willing to sell the 22-year-old.
No formal enquiry or offer has yet been made after the suggestion was rejected by manager Arsene Wenger, who earlier this week challenged the midfielder to become a “consistent presence” in the team this season.
It is believed that Wilshere is also happy to remain at Arsenalassuming he holds down a regular starting berth and Juventus are therefore waiting for more encouragement from the Gunners or the player before making an opening bid.
However, their interest remains genuine and they have instructed intermediaries to keep close tabs on Wilshere’s situation.

Wenger: Arsenal were never close to signing Khedira

Wenger: Arsenal were never close to signing Khedira

The Gunners were heavily linked with a move for the Germany international, but the Frenchman insists he is happy with his options and never made a move for the World Cup winner
Arsene Wenger has denied that Arsenal came close to signing Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira this summer.

The Germany international has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates, though Goal revealed that Chelsea edged ahead of the Gunners after the north Londoners baulked at the 27-year-old's wage demands.

Wenger, though, insists he is happy with his options, in particular Jack Wilshere, who is looking to complete an injury-free campaign in the Gunners' midfield.

Speaking to reporters, the Arsenal boss said: “I don’t know who has put him on the market. Whether it is his agent, or somebody else I don’t know. But we were never close to signing him.

“Jack Wilshere has come back fit and in midfield we have offensive midfielders, we have box-to-box players. We have quite a few.”

Arsenal have been busy this transfer window, snapping up Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, David Ospina and Calum Chambers.

They face Manchester City in the Community Shield at 15.00GMT on Sunday at Wembley.
